Opening of Wirye Tram in Southern Seoul Delayed to Next Year

· Reviewed by the editor

The scheduled December debut of the Wirye Line tram in southern Seoul has been postponed until 2027 despite construction reaching 97% completion. The delay follows disagreements between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency regarding traffic safety facilities and inspection protocols. The 5.4-kilometer overhead-wire-free tram is built to connect Macheon Station on Line 5 with Bokjeong Station on Line 8 and the Suin-Bundang Line.

So what

If you are traveling to or staying in the Wirye New Town area, plan to rely on existing buses and standard subway stations until next year.
