Maritime Typhoon Warnings Downgraded as Storm Champi Passes South Coast

· Reviewed by the editor

The Korea Meteorological Administration lifted typhoon warnings for the outer waters south of Jeju Island and the eastern South Sea at 3 a.m. on Monday, replacing them with high seas warnings. Over the weekend, the storm brought heavy downpours exceeding 250 millimeters to Jeju, damaged residential walls in Busan, and briefly disrupted coastal commuter rail service. Rain is tapering off across southern regions on Monday morning, but gusty winds are expected nationwide throughout the day.

So what

Check ferry schedules and beach safety advisories before traveling around Jeju Island or the southern coastline, as high swells and rough waters remain hazardous.
