Seoul Permanently Closes Jamsu Bridge to Vehicles for Pedestrian Makeover

· Reviewed by the editor

Seoul's Jamsu Bridge, the lower deck of Banpo Bridge spanning the Han River between Yongsan and Seocho districts, closed permanently to motor traffic at midnight on Monday. The city is transforming the 795-meter roadway into a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle parkway scheduled for completion by August 2027. All regular bus lines and private vehicles previously using Jamsu Bridge have been rerouted across neighboring bridges.

So what

If you commute by taxi or bus near Banpo Hangang Park, plan for slight detours and verify updated local bus routes.
